Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at AKAL OPTICAL. As an Optical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our ophthalmic team by performing various tasks related to eye care and laboratory procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer eye drops, ointments, and medications as directed by ophthalmologists.
  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient care and laboratory procedures.
  • Develop information materials for patients, including educational brochures and instructional guides.
  • Follow through on treatment programs with patients, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of prescriptions and patient information.
  • Set up and dismantle equipment, ensuring it is clean and ready for use.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, adhering to strict hygiene standards.
  • Lay out surgical instruments, ensuring they are organized and easily accessible.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Record information about donors, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
  • Assist chiropractors with patient health education, providing support and guidance.
  • Clean and dress wounds, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and instrumentation, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Process claims, including health insurance and workers' compensation.
  • Remove casts, sutures, and pins, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Maintain supplies, ensuring they are stocked and readily available.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, ensuring it is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Perform general clerical duties, including data entry and record-keeping.
  • Prepare and maintain cleanliness of collection areas, adhering to strict hygiene standards.
  • Process files and paperwork, ensuring they are accurate and complete.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, ensuring patient convenience and satisfaction.
  • Take patients' general medical and ophthalmic history, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
  • Manage routine office functions, including reception, telephone, and booking appointments.
  • Order supplies and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Organize and maintain inventory, ensuring it is up-to-date and accurate.
