Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Profitable Crude Oil Trading Specialist to join our team at Shell. As a key member of our Canadian Crude Oil Trading team, you will be responsible for analyzing market trends and developing strategies to drive profitable contributions.

Key Responsibilities

Market Analysis and Strategy Development: Work alongside Senior Traders to analyze market data, identify trends, and develop tradable strategies to profitably trade Canadian benchmark grades and function as an internal market maker.

Collaboration and Communication: Support the development of market analysis and fundamental insights through collaboration with the Analyst team, and communicate key market dynamics to the wider NA Crude Trading team.

New Business Origination: Originate new business and identify mutually beneficial deal constructs with producers, refiners, and midstream carriers.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience in Crude Oil Trading, specializing in analytics and trade execution.

Skills: Strong understanding of relevant regulatory framework and business controls, Python or R coding capability, and experience in modeling automation.

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a related field such as finance, economics, or mathematics.

Additional Requirements: Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis, capable of building customer relationships and executing structural deals, strong risk appetite, ability to manage complex pricing and logistical exposures, and experience in developing and monetizing views based on fundamental analysis.
