Emergency Physician

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Emergency Physician to join our team at Yarmouth Regional Hospital and Digby General Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our emergency department.
Key Responsibilities- Examine patients, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures to diagnose and treat medical conditions
- Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention to promote healthy lifestyles
- Consult and refer to other medical practitioners to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Act as a patient advocate to ensure patient rights and dignity are respected
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations to promote patient health
This is a full-time position, working between Yarmouth Regional Hospital and Digby General Hospital.
Qualifications- College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification is an asset
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) is required
- Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is required for family physicians
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification is required
- Clinical Competence in the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) certification is an asset
- Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is an asset
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is an asset
- Emergency department experience is an asset
