About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estate and Trust Planning Lead to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Wealth Management group, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to our clients and advisors on complex estate and trust planning matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement estate and trust planning strategies to meet the needs of our high net worth clients
  • Collaborate with our Wealth Management team to integrate estate and trust planning expertise into our financial planning services
  • Provide technical coaching and training to our advisors and specialists on estate and trust planning best practices
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in estate, trust, and tax legislation and provide recommendations to ensure compliance
  • Build and maintain relationships with external legal firms and professional tax and accounting service providers
  • Manage risk associated with estate and trust planning issues and ensure a coordinated approach to estate and trust planning issues
Requirements
  • Proven experience in the estate and trust industry, including the regulatory environment
  • Extensive knowledge of the competitive estate and trust market – products, companies, taxation, and marketing concepts
  • Detailed knowledge of estate and trust law, including related Quebec Civil law, to resolve complex problems and provide guidance to our staff and clients
  • Fluency in both French and English is required
  • Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) designation (TEP), or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Superior time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
