About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Apprentice Carpenter to join our team at Appenzell Construction Inc. as a Construction and Renovation Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting our experienced carpenters in various construction and renovation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing layouts and designs for construction and renovation projects, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join various materials, including wood, wood substitutes, and other materials, to create high-quality structures and features.
  • Build and install foundations, floor beams, subflooring, walls, and roof systems, ensuring precision and attention to detail.
  • Fabricate and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware, maintaining a high level of quality and craftsmanship.
  • Participate in maintaining, repairing, and renovating residential and commercial properties, including wooden structures in various settings.
  • Assist in completing level one, two, three, and four apprenticeship training programs, developing your skills and knowledge in carpentry and construction.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and best practices, wearing steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, and other necessary protective equipment.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders, demonstrating excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in the construction and carpentry industry.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, handling heavy loads and working at heights.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Reliability, accuracy, and efficiency in completing tasks and projects.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality and safety.
