Position Summary

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital (OSMH), you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory tests. Reporting to the Manager/Quality Leader, Laboratory Services, through the Team Leader, you will be responsible for specimen collection using phlebotomy or micro-sample techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform and explain procedures for ECGs and special tests such as Glucose Tolerance tests and Sweat tests.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting of test results.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide excellent patient care.
Required Qualifications:
  • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Laboratory Assistant Training Program.
  • Certification with Ontario Society of Medical Technologists (OSMT), MLPAO, or Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
  • Minimum two years technical training/experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a hospital laboratory.
