About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Care Worker to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to patients with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene
  • Provide support and guidance during psychosocial rehabilitation activities, including structured group activities and self-care
  • Monitor patients' status and report any concerns to the Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse
  • Assist with transporting patients to off-site appointments and provide one-to-one personal care and observation as directed
  • Participate in meetings, such as ward rounds and team meetings, to provide feedback on patient observations
  • Facilitate patients' participation in psychosocial rehabilitation activities, including setting schedules and participating in unit scheduled individual and group activities
  • Perform procedures such as weighing patients, monitoring nutritional and fluid intake, and collecting specimens
Requirements
  • Grade ten plus graduation from a recognized Mental Health Care Worker program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with access to a personal vehicle for business purposes
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
