Our web development team is seeking an experienced Senior Web Developer to take on a leadership role, designing robust technical solutions, developing end-to-end applications, and communicating ideas clearly. This is a permanent, full-time position in a hybrid work environment, requiring occasional in-office time.

About the Role

We're looking for a seasoned full-stack developer with several years of hands-on experience, ideally including leadership roles on web development projects. Your expertise should include PHP and vanilla JavaScript, with knowledge of modern frameworks like Laravel and CodeIgniter. You'll be involved in all aspects of our web application, from UI design to backend controls, APIs, and special architecture projects.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design technical solutions for business problems presented by our Product and Marketing Teams
  • Be involved in all aspects of the Voices web application, including UI design, backend controls, APIs, application logic, and special architecture projects
  • Plan and lead team sprints and projects through estimation and cooperative research
  • Handle internal support conversations, investigate trouble tickets, and contribute to occasional infrastructure projects
  • Help expand the knowledge of your colleagues and assist them in developing highly functional, efficient, and readable code
  • Guide technical solution planning for sprints and small projects
  • Create task tickets (Jira) to reliably deliver quality products
  • Build customer-facing and internal user interfaces with CSS from LESS/SASS, HTML & JS
  • Create and extend an MVC application using PHP frameworks (CodeIgniter, Laravel) and occasional scripts
  • Apply your knowledge of accessibility standards (AODA, WCAG) and site security (OWASP) to improve life for our users
  • Test your work for performance and bottleneck improvements
  • Build or extend our internal APIs and 3rd-party integrations (Salesforce, S3, SQS, and other AWS services)
  • Work with multiple Git branches, write and review Pull Requests (BitBucket), and push production-level code regularly and on a schedule
  • Oversee the preparation of the test and release plan for your work by creating DB migration scripts and collaborating with the testing team
  • Help maintain our internal component library & design system, and contribute to build scripts (Gulp, Webpack, Babel)
  • Build new product pages and functionality for our website and document projects (Confluence)
  • Write and update technical documentation and requirements
  • Collaborate via Slack, Figma, and regular video or in-person chats
