About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Land and Resource Specialist to join our team at the BC Public Service Agency. As a key member of our Forest Sector Transformation Unit, you will play a critical role in driving meaningful change in the forest sector.

As a Land and Resource Specialist, you will be responsible for understanding local fibre flow dynamics and developing strategies to support communities, First Nations, and industry through the ongoing forest sector transition. You will have the opportunity to engage directly with industry stakeholders and First Nations, listening to their needs and helping shape solutions that impact the future of BC's forest industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to support communities, First Nations, and industry through the forest sector transition
  • Engage with industry stakeholders and First Nations to understand their needs and develop solutions
  • Collaborate with the Director and other team members to drive meaningful change in the forest sector
  • Provide expert advice on land use planning and resource management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior level partners and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Must be a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC); or, as a Professional Agrologist (PAg) with the BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA); or, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC); or, able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BC association within six (6) months of employment
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) or an equivalent combination of education/training, plus three (3) or more years' experience working in a natural resource discipline
  • Training and/or experience in project management
  • Significant experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project or regional initiative
  • Experience in managing project teams
  • Experience in managing relationships with senior level partners and stakeholders
  • Experience or knowledge in implementing provincial and regional First Nations consultation procedures
  • Experience and knowledge of conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent
