Job Title: Captain - Air Transport

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain to join our team at WestJet Encore. As a Captain, you will be responsible for the safe operation of our aircraft and the well-being of our passengers.

Job Summary:

The Captain will be responsible for:

  • Operating fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters
  • Following emergency procedures in case of equipment malfunction or failure
  • Monitoring the operation of engine and aircraft systems during flight
  • Performing post-flight inspections
  • Recording equipment malfunctions and corrective actions taken during flight
  • Reporting required repairs to ground maintenance personnel
  • Coordinating flight activities with ground crews and air-traffic control
  • Conducting in-flight tests and monitoring the functioning of aircraft equipment and systems
  • Conducting pre-flight inspections of aircraft and checking passenger and cargo distribution
  • Contacting control towers for takeoff clearances and arrival instructions
  • Maintaining communications with flight dispatchers and weather forecasters
  • Preparing flight evaluation reports
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Commercial Pilot Licence - fixed wing
  • An Airline Pilot Transport Licence - fixed wing
  • A Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Licence
  • A Multi-instrument Flight Rating
  • 3-4 years of experience as a pilot
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to distinguish between colours
  • 20/20 vision
