Aquaculture Support Worker

Macs Oysters Ltd is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Aquaculture Support Worker to join our team. As an Aquaculture Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and productivity of our aquaculture operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clean and sanitize aquaculture equipment to prevent the introduction of pathogens and disease
  • Maintain and operate aquaculture equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Report any stock irregularities to supervisors and take corrective action as needed
  • Cull, mark, or tag aquaculture stocks as required
  • Clean and maintain aquaculture enclosures to ensure water quality and stock health
  • Rake and gather marine plants for processing
  • Transport marine plants to processing plants
  • Clean, sort, and pack shellfish for market
  • Grade and weigh aquaculture stocks to ensure quality and quantity
Work Environment:

As an Aquaculture Support Worker, you will work outdoors in a wet and damp environment, exposed to odors and potentially hazardous conditions. You must be physically fit and able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) regularly.

Requirements:
  • Dependability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Initiative to take on additional responsibilities and tasks as needed
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Experience an asset, but not required
Working Conditions:
