About the Role

Brookfield Renewable is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Accounting department. This role involves managing the monthly accounting cycle, ensuring accurate financial close within tight deadlines, and preparing financial statements for various sites under the Wind and/or Solar Platform.

We are looking for a dedicated and team-oriented individual who is passionate about being an integral part of our dynamic organization and helping it thrive. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the main point of contact for assigned companies;
  • Preparing and documenting analysis for complex accounting issues;
  • Preparing accounting and financial statements for Wind and/or Solar assets;
  • Preparing journal entries as part of the monthly, quarterly and annual close process;
  • Coordinating with internal departments to prepare monthly and quarterly variance analysis;
  • Reviewing and maintaining monthly general ledger accounts and reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial statements;
  • Preparing journal entries in Fixed Asset Module for Distributed Generation (DG) segment;
  • Preparing accounting entries for assets under construction and ensuring accurate transfer to Property, Plant and Equipment (PPE) after asset reaches its Commercial Operation Date;
  • Completing SOX compliance documentation for Projects under construction and Projects closed during the year as per internal process.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Ability to think outside the box and adapt to a dynamic, complex, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment;
  • Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities;
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently;
  • Able to work overtime hours during peak periods as required;
  • Occasional travel required.

Bachelor's Degree required (Accounting concentration preferred).
