Civil Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our team at Alliston Group. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining vendor relationships, actively seeking opportunities for cost savings, and executing Alliston Group's Estimating and Purchasing tasks.
Job Responsibilities- Estimating and Procurement: Proactively support the execution of estimating and purchasing tasks by creating and maintaining accurate material takeoffs, reviewing cost estimates from vendors, and monitoring material usage in the field.
- Software Implementation: Implement Homefront software and train other departments in its use to improve efficiency and accuracy in estimating processes.
- Tender Review: Complete and review tenders to ensure compliance with company specifications and standards.
- Daily Cost Reviews: Conduct daily reviews of cost estimates from vendors to identify areas for cost savings and improvement.
- Material Management: Create and maintain accurate material takeoffs, monitor material usage in the field, and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Estimate Preparation: Prepare detailed estimates for Sales, including custom price requests and model and option estimates.
- PO and VPO Issuance: Consistently and proactively issue Purchase Orders (POs) and Vendor Purchase Orders (VPOs) to ensure timely procurement of materials and services.
- Vendor Management: Procure vendors and suppliers, assist with contract negotiations, and communicate scope of work to contractors.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze budgets, variances, trends, and post-occupancy incurred costs to identify areas for cost reduction and improvement.
- Team Collaboration: Liaise between Estimating team members, vendors/contractors, Construction, Design, Accounting, and Sales Team members to ensure accuracy of information for production.
- Experience: Must have 5+ years' experience in construction purchasing/estimating, preferably with a home builder.
- Credentials: Civil Engineering Technology, Construction or Architectural Technology diploma or equivalent experience is required.
- Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, good time management, ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, and proven ability to handle large volumes of data.
- Languages: Proficiency in Homefront software is considered an asset.
