About the Role

Rinker Materials is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in evaluating the cost of projects and providing detailed estimates for planning purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Cost Evaluation: Evaluate the cost of projects, including manufactured concrete pressure pipe, and provide detailed estimates for planning purposes.
  • Quote Preparation: Prepare quotes, make price requests, and update databases of estimates and potential suppliers.
  • Estimate Development: Develop preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed itemized estimates based on final plans and specifications.
  • Documentation Interpretation: Interpret documentation, specifications, and design drawings to define scope/content of estimates and prepare and participate in meetings with sales, production, clients, joint venture partners, and consultants.
  • Supplier Management: Identify local subcontractors and suppliers, request quotes, and prepare comparison sheets.
  • Tender Verification: Verify that the tender complies with contractual requirements and quality requirements.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Prepare work breakdown structures, bills of quantities, and requests for quotations; analyze the feasibility/profitability of projects; verify documents included in the quote; validate contractual documents; and provide project management support for changeover costs and additional work.
Requirements
  • AutoCAD Knowledge: Mandatory knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Civil and Process Drawings: Ability to read and interpret civil and process drawings.
  • Mathematics Knowledge: Mathematics knowledge, including trigonometry, is necessary.
  • Blueprint Reading: Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
  • Construction Products Manufacturing: Technical expertise in construction products manufacturing, specifically concrete pipe.
  • Detail-Oriented: Detail-oriented and aware of the importance of accuracy.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in French and English.
  • Education: Post-secondary education in an engineering discipline (technologist level at minimum); Bachelor's degree an asset.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years' experience in the construction sector.
