Job Summary
The Emergency Nurse Specialist role at Fraser Health Authority is a dynamic position that involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency environment. As a Registered Nurse on the transition line, you will have the opportunity to consolidate your skills and knowledge in a specialty nursing unit, while also developing your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients and collect information from various sources, using skills of observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment. Make a nursing diagnosis of the patient's condition and determine whether the condition can be improved or resolved by an appropriate nursing intervention.
- Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers in developing the care plan, encouraging family participation in the development, implementation, and ongoing modification of the care plan.
- Establish a therapeutic relationship by demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect, advocating for the patient's rights to privacy, dignity, and access to information, and ensuring the patient's choice and autonomy in decision-making and care planning.
- Participate in the care and discharge planning process for patients on admission, ensuring the care plan is established, implemented, and evaluated effectively.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of the applicable postgraduate specialty nursing course/program and/or willingness to complete the applicable postgraduate specialty nursing courses/program.
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
