Description

The Director of Preconstruction will play a key role in providing construction strategies, management, and oversight for design requirements on mixed-use residential and industrial construction projects. This involves working closely with internal and external resources to develop cost estimates, risk mitigation strategies, and value engineering analysis.


Responsibilities

  • Manage bidding procedures, review and analyze bids, recommend contract assignments, and participate in negotiations.
  • Establish and maintain the bidding process, monitoring and cost reporting systems, and procedures.
  • Prepare estimates of probable material, labor, and equipment costs for construction projects based on contract bids, quotes, drawings, and specifications.
  • Develop reports and forecasts of costs and expenditures at regular intervals throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop construction projects and prepare construction progress reports.
  • Provide technical direction to ensure design, budget, and schedule guidelines are met.
Requirements
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills and proven ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Proven track record of identifying, evaluating, and developing new ideas with concrete results.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • DEC in Architectural Technology or BAC in Engineering in a related discipline, with a minimum of 7 years experience as a construction estimator.
  • Fluency in French is required, English is an asset.
  • Ability to work outside regular working hours and be available when needed.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Word, Excel, CAD, etc.

Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
