The Data Engineering team at Loblaw is seeking a Data Analyst to support large data initiatives by applying expertise in acquiring, analyzing, and manipulating data to identify insights and data patterns. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting and maintaining data requirements, transformations, and system documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Extract and analyze sophisticated information from various databases, and transform extracted data into insights suitable for presentation to different audiences.
  • Collaborate with business and analytics groups on cross-functional projects and data initiatives to solve business problems.
  • Analyze existing processes to enhance features or troubleshoot data issues raised by business stakeholders.
  • Develop capabilities to identify areas of opportunity and improve business processes, data architecture, and reporting efficiency.
  • Develop documentation, including UML diagrams, to support data architecture and processes.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in SQL is required. Advance SQL skills to support data analysis for business requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills to support data analysis and derive relevant interpretations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to liaison effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Prior experience in cloud technologies and large relational databases preferably in retail domain would be an asset (GCP, Big Query, Teradata etc.).
  • University Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Information Systems is preferred.
