Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Records Specialist to join our team at Watson Clinic. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for overseeing and assisting with the compilation, processing, and maintenance of medical records and forms for our clinic patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of patient medical records and forms, adhering to medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Process requests for patient medical record information and forms, verifying proper signed patient authorization and extracting only pertinent information.
- Respond to incoming calls and requests from provider offices and insurance companies, retrieving information from our electronic health record system as needed.
- Verify the completeness of each request by checking paper charts and electronic systems, including EpicCare EHR, MyChart, and athenaIDX.
- Release only authorized patient information, verifying reports have been signed by the appropriate provider prior to release.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required (GED may be equivalent).
- Two years previous experience in a medical records environment, including filing, data entry, and audit processing.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Basic knowledge of Windows-based computer applications and accurate keyboard skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
