At Intact Financial Corporation, we're seeking a skilled Commercial Lines Underwriting Specialist to join our Digital Underwriting team. This role offers a unique opportunity to explore new underwriting solutions and contribute to the development of strategies and corporate guidelines to effectively control insurance risks and positively impact profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and present new ideas and solutions to challenges through effective use of critical thinking skills.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and corporate guidelines to effectively control insurance risks and positively impact profitability.
  • Support system and tool enhancements, and collaborate with other departments to seek creative solutions.
  • Contribute to the overall planning, design, and delivery of current and new products.
  • Foster the growth and development of our Digital Underwriting tool kit, including Contact 2.0 and our Underwriting Advisor, to drive user autonomy.
  • Deliver digital guidelines and tools to improve technology and support distribution to increase profitability and ease of doing business.
  • Explore and lead initiatives to create and evolve digital underwriting solutions within Intact's suite of online underwriting tools and resources.
  • Provide analysis to assist in the planning, design, and delivery of current and new digital solutions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant P&C Commercial Lines Underwriting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial P&C wording, products, appetite, and philosophies, along with underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to consider different perspectives and approaches.
  • Ability to identify and recommend learning and training opportunities and propose solutions and action plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to collaborate, promote partnerships, and build effective work relationships.
  • Self-driven and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Can adapt to changes in the workplace positively.
  • Good understanding of Intact underwriting systems and office software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designated or working towards the designation.
