About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at ANDRITZ AG. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating detailed drawings and designs for heavy mechanical equipment, including dam gates, hoists, and embedded parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and prepare 3D models from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specifications, and other data.
  • Prepare detailed drawings of heavy mechanical equipment, tender drawings, shop drawings, site drawings, and factory assembly drawings.
  • Participate in the design process in collaboration with engineers.
  • Assist engineers with detailed design tasks using CAD/CAM development tools.
  • Select components for heavy mechanical assembly design.
  • Check plans for compliance with existing guidelines, code requirements, and other regulations.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Ensure that designs and drawings are feasible in terms of the company's requirements and manufacturing processes.
  • Determine dimensional tolerances required for manufacturing.
  • Produce a list of materials on the drawings.
  • Answer questions and requests for clarification from various stakeholders.
  • Define functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing of components.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Check drawings for compliance with customer specifications and design data.
  • Perform any other related tasks.
Requirements
  • Diploma of college studies (DCS) in mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Attention to quality and detail.
  • Good analytical and concentration skills.
  • Spirit of initiative.
  • Excellent written and spoken French.
  • Functional written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor (an asset).
  • Knowledge of welding and machining (an asset).
  • Experience in heavy mechanical equipment design (an asset).
  • Experience in hydroelectricity (an asset).
