About the Role:

The RMC Group of Companies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Manager to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial activities of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the day-to-day actions of the accounting department, including inter-company accounting, cash management, financial reporting, and balance sheet management.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with senior management.
  • Oversee management and control of inventory held in multiple locations.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure the company has adequate resources to meet its financial obligations.
  • Prepare financial statements by leveraging data available in multiple accounting software and make recommendations for improvements/efficiencies when necessary.
  • Streamline systems and processes and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Oversee software selection, implementation, and migration processes.
  • Assign projects and delegate work to team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies, legislation, and accounting principles.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to accounting department staff, including the accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and accounting teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Successful completion of CPA designation.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience at a senior level.
  • 1+ years of previous experience managing a team.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Dynamics, ERP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, specifically project-based accounting.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based. Infrequent travel to worksites in Edmonton and area may be required.

Hours of Work:

Typical hours of work are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. However, overtime may be required during peak season.
