Volunteer Opportunity Summary:

The Orientation Facilitator plays a pivotal role in the volunteer recruitment process, leading and presenting the Shelter Movers' Trauma-Informed Care Orientation session to volunteers completing the onboarding process. This role involves training and engaging volunteer applicants, gathering and sharing knowledge on critical concepts of Violence Against Women, and coordinating with other Facilitators and the Volunteer Services team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate virtual orientation sessions for volunteer applicants.
  • Gather and share knowledge on critical concepts of Violence Against Women and Shelter Movers' procedures, values, and impact.
  • Coordinate with other Facilitators and the Volunteer Services team to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Review the Trauma-Informed Care Orientation for any content changes in advance of each presentation.

Essential Skills and Qualities:

  • Strong ability to work as part of a team and lead virtual sessions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle different group dynamics.
  • Patience, empathy, emotional intelligence, and ability to handle difficult conversations.
  • Awareness of appropriate boundaries, compassion fatigue, and self-care.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and applying an anti-oppressive lens.
  • Tact, discretion, high maturity level, and good judgment.
  • Reliable work habits and strong organizational skills.
