Job Summary

Option Excavating Inc. is a leading provider of underground infrastructure installation services, specializing in water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer main lines, and services. We are seeking an experienced Earthworks Foreman/Operator to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grade Setting and Management: Ability to shoot grades and establish grades for various Earthworks projects.
  • Field Operations Oversight: Oversees field operations onsite and actively participates in the successful execution of Earthworks projects.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Records and marks up drawings for as-builts at the end of the project.
  • Teamwork and Safety: Works in a team environment with attention to safety and productivity.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operates and maintains equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Minor Maintenance and Inspection: Conducts minor maintenance and inspection of equipment.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Follows instructions and collaborates with others to complete tasks.
  • Safety and Compliance: Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and regulations.
  • Job Hazard Awareness and Record Keeping: Conducts daily job hazard awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly toolbox topics, and completes daily record keeping, including daily logs, equipment hours, material schedules, and timecards.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • English Verbal and Written Communication Skills: Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Construction and Excavation Experience: 5 years of experience in construction and excavation, preferably in an Earthworks Foreman/Operator role.
  • CSTS Certification: Must have valid CSTS-09, WHMIS 2015, Ground Disturbance, and CSA-approved 8" steel toe work boots.
  • Other Requirements: Hard-working, positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to read specifications, blueprints, and as-builds.
