We are seeking high-achieving students to join our Early Talent program at Plains, a leading transportation and midstream provider in the energy industry.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be exposed to a broad cross-section of disciplines within Operations Engineering, including pipelines, processing facilities, caverns, reservoirs, truck and rail loading facilities in the Great Lakes Region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop an understanding of processes and overall function of Operations Engineering and processing units
  • Participate in developing solutions to technical issues and verifying the implementation of these solutions
  • Prepare and present summary reports, performance metrics reports, graphical representation and presentations, as required
  • Perform calculations, modeling, and data analyses
  • Evaluate the performance of process equipment (pumps, exchangers, furnaces, etc.)
  • Assist in the evaluation of the performance of production units
  • Apply engineering theory to determine solutions, considering impacts of risk and safety
  • As-building the P&IDs. Data gathering from the field and DCS/PI
  • Assist with document control. Digitize the documents, project files and upload them to adept
  • Complete and present an assigned project(s)
Requirements
  • Minimum 2nd year student enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary institution, working towards a bachelor's degree in Engineering – ideally Chemical or Mechanical
  • Both formal and non-formal co-op students are eligible to apply
  • Previous work terms are considered an asset
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Familiarity with database programs
  • Ability to read P&IDs and perform simulation will be considered an asset
  • Preference will be given to a student who will be returning to university to finish their undergraduate degree following the completion of this work term
  • Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves within 100KM of our Sarnia facility for the entire duration of the work term
  • Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing
  • Valid Driver's license with a clean driving abstract
