Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Specialist, Pension Accounting Operations to join our team at the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution and processing of daily banking transactions, pension benefit payments, and associated taxes, as well as refunds to members and employers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process incoming payments, including contributions from employers and members, and recovered benefit overpayments, ensuring accurate and timely recording in all financial systems.
  • Process pension benefit payments and associated taxes, ensuring accurate recording in all sub-ledger systems and the general ledger.
  • Update member benefit payment records for any payment status changes, including returned, missing, or cleared cheque payments, in the pension administration system.
  • Process contribution refunds to employers or members, ensuring accurate and timely processing as per approved instructions from Plan Operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve pension transaction-related issues and maintain service level agreements to ensure a positive employer-member experience.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Finance or Business.
  • 2+ years' finance industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience in large ERP systems and sub-ledger to GL process flow is an asset.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and thorough in managing deliverables.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with team members and stakeholders.
