Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, set up, and administer accounting systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise staff to ensure they are meeting accounting standards and procedures.
  • Train staff on accounting systems and procedures.
  • Arrange training for staff to ensure they are up-to-date on accounting standards and procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures, and internal control.
  • Prepare financial information for individuals, departments, or companies.
  • Prepare reports and audit findings.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Recommend improvements to accounting systems and management practices.
  • Conduct field audits of businesses to ensure compliance with provisions of the Income Tax Act, the Canadian Business Corporations Act, or other statutory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain cost findings, reporting, and internal control procedures.
  • Prepare income tax returns from accounting records.
  • Analyze financial documents and reports.
  • Examine accounting records.
  • Provide financial, business, and tax advice.
  • Act as trustee in bankruptcy proceedings.
Requirements:
  • Education: College/CEGEP
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
  • Computer and technology knowledge: Accounting software, Simply Accounting, Quick Books, Internet, MS Excel, MS Windows
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, attention to detail, large workload
  • Personal suitability: Accurate, client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, flexibility, initiative, judgement, organized, reliability, team player
