Forestry Technician

Wright Canada Holdings Ltd is seeking a skilled Forestry Technician to join our team in the Northern Interior backcountry of BC. As a key member of our forestry operations, you will play a critical role in collecting data for forest management, including pre-harvest assessment, riparian assessment and mapping, boundary and road layout, identifying logging hazards, timber reconnaissance, and GPS traversing.
Responsibilities- Timber Cruising Compass-person
- Boundary and Road Layout and Traverse
- Riparian Assessment, mapping, and prescriptions application
- Crossing and Site Plan Data Collection
- Ecology type identification and stratification
- Mapping and identification of logging hazards prescription application
- Road Engineering estimates and appraisal data field survey
- Remote camping and wilderness exploration
- Timber reconnaissance and stand level timber type stratification
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright Canada Holdings' culture of safety and employee ownership.
- Comply with applicable federal, provincial and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
- Position requires travel.

- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- 1 year of Forestry-related experience
- Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset
- Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset
- Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field
- The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time
- Basic field work experience
- Experience using GPS, avenza, and other mapping programs
- Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees, clients and vendors.
