Job Summary

The GIS Technician will be responsible for providing mapping products and spatial analysis reporting to support operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage large spatial and attribute data sets using database management tools and applications.
  • Manage projects and/or project components, including defining project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Prepare and present recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Create, publish, and manage map services.
  • Organize, prioritize, and manage workload, working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Create, develop, and maintain spatial and attribute databases used in Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, relational database management (RDBM) systems, and other corporate business systems.
  • Pollinate, maintain data integrity, secure access to restricted data, maintain linkages between databases, and update databases as information becomes available.
  • Ensure clearances are followed in accordance with provincial regulations.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Geographic Information Systems.
  • Experience utilizing QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Story Maps, Collector, GPS, PSI Geomatica, programming in Python, Arcade & Visual Basic.
  • Experience in forestry GIS work.
  • Ability to use Microsoft 365 products (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive) in a cloud-based environment.
  • Preferably located in BC.
