Director - Financial Reporting and Advisory

Job Summary

Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Director - Financial Reporting and Advisory to lead the management of external financial reporting, accounting, and disclosure. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements, management's discussion and analysis, and other reports filed with regulators and published externally.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead External Financial Reporting, Accounting, and Disclosure
  • Develop and implement strategies for external financial reporting, accounting, and disclosure, ensuring alignment with corporate vision, values, and strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, accounting, and disclosure.
  • Liaise with external auditors on accounting policy formulation and disclosure alternatives.
Advise Management on Complex Financial Reporting, Accounting, and Disclosure Matters
  • Prepare business cases and reports on projects and initiatives, presenting recommendations and status updates to key stakeholders.
  • Research and benchmark best practices, recommending continuous improvement efforts in financial reporting and accounting.
Capitalize on Advanced Knowledge of Financial Reporting, Accounting, and Disclosure
  • Act as an ambassador for continuous improvement within financial reporting, accounting, and disclosure, introducing new methodologies and tools to improve current practices.
  • Develop and implement company-wide standards, procedures, and policies, ensuring compliance with industry and professional regulations.

Requirements

  • University degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 8-10 years of related work experience or equivalent.
  • Experience in the mining industry.
  • Experience in corporate financial reporting role or similar function.
  • Experience leading professionals.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the analysis and implementation of accounting policies.
  • Experience leading projects of varying scope and complexity.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, and OSC and SEC Rules and Regulations.
