Qualifications and Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Practice Educator to join our team at Island Health. The successful candidate will possess a recognized nursing degree, advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of wound care, and three years of recent experience in a clinical area of expertise.

Additionally, the candidate will have two years of formal experience in adult teaching and learning, curriculum development, teaching, and providing in-service or staff development functions. A valid BC Driver's License and current CPR certification are also required.

Areas of Care:

The successful candidate will have expertise in wound care, specifically in enterostomal therapy, and will be registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Promote staff morale, cooperation, and assertiveness, and implement IH policies and protocols.
  • Management: Manage time and resources, supervise responsibilities of others, and collaborate across disciplines.
  • Knowledge Integration: Use factual information and research-based evidence to support decisions and actions.
  • Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice: Promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Critical Thinking: Problem-solve effectively by integrating and evaluating pertinent data.
  • Teaching: Transmit information to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
  • Assessment and Intervention: Complete initial and ongoing client assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate interventions.
