Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Support Assistant to join our team at the Eastern Townships School Board.

Job Details

As a Student Support Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting handicapped students in participating in activities related to their schooling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist students in moving from one location to another, including to and from their mode of transportation
  • Ensure students' personal hygiene
  • Supervise students during recess and lunch, meal periods, and recreation time
  • Assist teachers in communicating basic concepts of cleanliness and personal care, such as dressing, eating, and drinking
  • Assist students in preparing and carrying out pedagogical and student activities
  • Record observations concerning students' needs and behaviors
  • Perform any other related duties

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must meet one of the following two profiles:

1) Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies in Assistance in Health Care Facilities

2) Hold a Secondary School Diploma, or a diploma or attestation of studies recognized as equivalent, and have one year of pertinent experience in areas requiring self-discipline, general concepts in psychology, and human relations skills.

Additional Requirements

You must hold a certificate dated no more than three years, attesting to the successful completion of:

1) a standard first aid course of a minimum eight-hour duration

2) a refresher course of a minimum six-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the course mentioned in subparagraph 1
