Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our Neurology department at Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional care to our patients and clients, working closely with our Neurology RVTs, ACAs, and board-certified Veterinary Neurologists.
Responsibilities
- Care for our patients, including feeding, walking, and providing a gentle voice of assurance
- Ensure animal housing or enclosure is clean, sanitary, and comfortable
- Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for patients and pet parents, with a compassionate and nurturing attitude
- Perform general housekeeping duties, including pet holding areas and common areas when required
- Provide excellent customer service skills, putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment
- Capable of independent initiative, adapting to changing situations, and prioritizing workload
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and maintain a high quality of care in a busy environment
- Willingness to learn more about pet nutrition, veterinary services, and updated medical office procedures
- Collaborative approach with a team focus, working with veterinary staff on various tasks and treatments
- A love of all companion animals
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary hospital is a strong asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical stamina to perform duties in a fast-paced environment
