Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Emergency Department team at University Hospital of Northern BC. As a key member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will provide high-quality patient care, working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the Emergency Department, utilizing your knowledge of pathophysiology and nursing practice to provide safe and effective care.
  • Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized care plans, prioritizing patient needs and ensuring seamless transitions of care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, promoting health literacy and empowering them to take an active role in their care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices that enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills to resolve conflicts and address concerns.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one year of recent experience working in a related area of care.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and responsibilities while maintaining a high level of patient care.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practice, pathophysiology, and pharmacology, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a variety of clinical situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
