Job Summary

We're seeking an entry-level laborer to join our team at our North York Metals Recycling Yard. As a laborer, you'll play a critical role in assisting with daily operations, including scrap inspection, sortation, and general yard maintenance. You'll work closely with our experienced team members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with scrap inspection and sortation, ensuring that all materials meet our quality and environmental standards
  • Operate mobile equipment, such as forklifts and loaders, to assist with loading, off-loading, and sorting of scrap materials
  • Inspect incoming scrap materials for quality and environmental compliance
  • Apply deductions to non-conforming materials, communicating effectively with the scale house or yard inspector
  • Perform and document daily equipment care and maintenance
  • Identify and report safety hazards, environmental concerns, and equipment issues to supervisors
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to our high standards of safety and efficiency
Requirements
  • High school education preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Desire to enhance skills and knowledge to develop as a Gerdau employee
