Your Role and Responsibilities:

As part of Xanadu's Software Team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining PennyLane, an open-source framework for quantum machine learning, quantum computing, and quantum chemistry. Your tasks will also include contributing to the development of a quantum cloud platform and designing software and services with PennyLane.

The ideal candidate should possess the ability to quickly learn advanced scientific and technical concepts with minimal supervision. Strong technical skills and a demonstrated ability to learn new concepts are essential for this position. Experience in both quantum computing and software development is required.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field.
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience with software best practices, including continuous-integration pipelines, unit testing, and code review.
  • Experience working with several programming languages, with Python and modern C++ being essential.
  • Ability to understand and apply complex mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to translate abstract descriptions of algorithms into efficient code implementations.
  • Demonstrated education or training in quantum computing.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and deep learning principles.
  • Software development skills, showcased through a public online portfolio (e.g., GitHub account, contributions to open-source projects).
  • Self-motivation with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
  • Expertise in quantum computing, as evidenced by extensive coursework, research, or peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience with web development (frontend or backend).
  • Knowledge of numerical computation and high-performance computing.
  • Experience with distributed machine-learning workloads.
Compensation and Benefits
