Job Title: Instructor, Coastal Forest

North Island College is seeking a qualified instructor to teach Math and Data Analysis courses in the Coastal Forest Technology Diploma, Coastal Forest Worker Certificate, and Natural Resource Micro-credentials programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments
  • Teach in assigned subject areas and include all required subject matter or skill activity
  • Direct student learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment
  • Communicate learning outcomes and evaluation methods to students
  • Design and conduct evaluations or appraisals of students
  • Maintain records of student enrollment and achievement
Requirements:
  • Forest professional or related discipline with a minimum of three years industry experience
  • Master's degree in math, education, forestry, environmental studies, or a related field
  • Curriculum development experience
  • One year teaching experience in a post-secondary setting
  • BC Instructors Diploma or BC Teaching Certificate is preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Math and technical writing experience
  • Experience with course instruction, including facilitation of theoretical and applied learning, coordination of field trips, and coordination of instructional resources
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with instructional aids, computer applications, learning technologies, and digital tools
