About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Solutions Analyst to provide ongoing support and subject matter expertise related to Capital Markets technology solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate with business and technology teams to define and deliver projects, with a high level of complexity and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct business and user analysis for assigned business client area applications and processes
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of client area goals, objectives, and needs
  • Design, lead, and facilitate stakeholder meetings, including conducting workshops, planning sessions, interviews, focus groups, demos, and/or conducting reviews of existing applications, processes, and artifacts
  • Develop key artifacts needed to enable application development and enhancements, including designs, prototypes, mock-ups, user analysis, user personas, user journey maps, user stories, etc.
  • Perform system-specific analysis, low-code/no-code development, testing, configuration, production support, and provide technical guidance to others as needed
  • Contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of business capability roadmaps and application lifecycle roadmaps
  • Act as a capital markets subject matter expert and provide support, ad hoc training, and guidance to technology team members and business users
  • Proactively identify risks and issues and propose solutions to remove barriers to delivery
  • Ensure technical artifacts are accurate, accessible, maintained, and communicated

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Up to 8+ years of experience in a similar role as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Product Owner, or Technical Project Lead with hands-on experience producing business and user analysis in the capital markets space
  • Experience delivering technology solutions to the investment management industry, particularly in the public markets space, is essential
  • Technical competency in Bloomberg products (AIM, PORT, and other terminal functions), along with electronic trading and portfolio management platforms, is essential
  • Understanding of public trading workflows, products (including derivatives), and their lifecycle is required
  • Experience working with and supporting the technology needs of portfolio managers is a major plus
  • Ability to design, lead, and facilitate meetings and workshops with stakeholders in the capital markets space and present technical details to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work through ambiguous situations and manage multiple and competing priorities to meet tight deadlines and operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively engage multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with Agile methods (Scrum and/or Kanban) and DevOps practices is an asset
  • Must have excellent communication (written and verbal), facilitation, presentation, listening, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with hybrid technical environments and foundational knowledge of cyber security, cloud platforms, and the software development lifecycle
  • Works independently, provides guidance and training to others, and has an advanced level of competency within the role
  • Professional certifications or training in Business Analysis (IIBA, PBA, etc.) or Agile methods (Agile Leadership, CSM, CSPO, etc.) is an asset

  • Develops the key artifacts needed to enable application development and enhancements, including designs, prototypes, mock-ups, user analysis, user personas, user journey maps, user stories, etc.
  • Develops the key artifacts needed to enable business process development and enhancements, including capturing business rules, process workflows, process dependency maps, etc.
  • Performs system-specific analysis, low-code/no-code development, testing, configuration, production support, and provides technical guidance to others as needed
  • Contributes to the planning, development, and implementation of business capability roadmaps and application lifecycle roadmaps
  • Acts as a capital markets subject matter expert and provides support, ad hoc training, and guidance to technology team members and business users

  • Work from our downtown Victoria office

Salary Range

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health and dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $120,000 - $140,000.

The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors, including but not limited to the individual's skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered, and consideration to internal equity.

We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.

Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to experience and expertise.
