Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and/or facilitate rehabilitation programs for stroke patients, either individually or in groups, in-person and/or remotely.
  • Conduct a battery of clinical assessments and progress stroke patients on an individual basis based on their activity level and capability.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to stroke patients.
Requirements
  • University degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy.
  • At least 5 years of experience in stroke rehabilitation, including stroke assessment, understanding the pathology of stroke, and working with stroke patients with disabilities.
  • Prior experience in working and communicating with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with research activities is an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Work may be completed through in-person meetings, emails, phone calls, Zoom meetings, and/or TeamViewer application (a remote access desktop software).
  • The candidate must be fully competent and independent in their abilities to work with stroke patients.
Consequence of Error/Judgement

  • Inappropriate judgment could result in harm to the patients.
  • Inattention to paperwork detail (errors on forms) and study protocol could jeopardize the results to clinical trials.
Supervision and Support
  • The candidate will be supervised by Dr. Janice Eng, Professor, Department of Physical Therapy and her research coordinator.
  • The candidate must be able to guide the stroke patients (and sometimes caregiver and family) appropriately, whether in-person, thru Zoom meetings and phone calls, and progress the patients to being as independent as their function allows.
