About the Role

Magil Construction is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team in Mississauga. As a key member of our HSE team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our employees, contractors, and visitors on our construction sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters to project teams and management.
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Collaborate with the HSE Manager to develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to employees and contractors on health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training.
  • Participate in joint health and safety committee meetings and contribute to the development of health and safety strategies.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial safety regulations and worker's compensation legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
