About the Role
The Senior Mid-Marketing Underwriter is a key member of our team, responsible for analyzing rating and claims information to assess the group's specific risk characteristics. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to deliver clear, accurate, and complete renewals and amendments to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze group characteristics, plan designs, and funding arrangements to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Assess premium and claims information to determine accurate pricing for renewals.
- Provide underwriting decisions through clear verbal and written communications, ensuring that clients receive timely and effective support.
- Conduct constructive negotiations with clients to ensure that their needs are met while managing risk effectively.
- Evaluate and act on risk propositions to minimize potential losses and maximize returns.
- Accurately price new and existing business opportunities to ensure that clients receive fair and competitive pricing.
- Provide value-added underwriting and benefit recommendations to clients to maximize their group benefit spend.
What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary education with a strong background in business, mathematics, and analytics.
- Deep understanding of the Group Insurance market, products, and services.
- Underwriting experience within Group Benefits, with a proven track record of success.
- Bilingualism, French and English, is an asset.
- Proven ability to effectively partner with and support sales teams to drive business growth.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, with exceptional proficiency in Excel (data manipulation such as pivot tables) and Word.
- CEBS, GBA certification is encouraged and recommended.
- Ability to make well-balanced decisions that take effective risk management, financial discipline, and customer needs into account.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
