Position Details
Our facility in Candiac is seeking a dedicated Stationary Engine Mechanic to enhance our Maintenance team. This role entails a permanent full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, operating on a standard schedule with additional availability for service calls as required. Overtime opportunities are typically available.
The primary responsibilities include ensuring the functionality of all equipment, responding to maintenance requests, and supporting both preventive maintenance and urgent repairs across various workshop equipment, including thermal power plant machinery. The mechanic will be responsible for the installation and upkeep of machinery using a variety of tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to established safety protocols while performing maintenance tasks.
- Support the operation and upkeep of thermal power plant equipment, ensuring the consistent supply of steam, process water, and compressed air.
- Maintain heating and ventilation systems and other production machinery throughout the facility.
- Engage in troubleshooting and problem-solving to enhance equipment performance and maintenance processes.
- Monitor and manage the receipt of essential raw materials for plant operations.
- Accurately log daily operational variables into the transaction database.
- Propose modifications or upgrades to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Interpret technical schematics and documentation effectively.
- Exhibit strong teamwork capabilities while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls as needed.
- Document all work order interventions thoroughly.
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of occupational health and safety standards.
- Familiarity with industry-standard procedures and practices.
- Experience with Biogas/Natural Gas boilers, HVAC systems, and compressors.
- Proficient in working with cylinder machines, blowers, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.
Educational Background
- DEC in mechanical techniques or equivalent vocational training with significant experience.
- Class 3 Stationary Engine Mechanic certification.
Additional Information
The successful candidate must demonstrate reliability and responsiveness to maintenance needs. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 30 kg, work in various environments, and perform tasks that may involve heights or confined spaces. Participation in company-sponsored training and willingness to accept overtime and shift rotations is expected.
