About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Stationary Engine Mechanic to join our Maintenance team at our Candiac facility. This is a permanent full-time position of 40 hours/week, on a 5-day schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with mandatory availability for service calls 1 week / 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on stationary engines and equipment according to established safety rules and procedures.
  • Contribute to the maintenance, improvement, and operation of the thermal power plant's equipment to ensure the supply of steam, process water, and compressed air.
  • Participate in problem-solving to improve equipment and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and ensure the receipt of raw materials required for the operation of the thermal power plant.
  • Enter daily variables into our transaction database.
  • Make recommendations for equipment modifications or upgrades to improve machine reliability and performance.
  • Interpret equipment schematics and documentation.
  • Demonstrate a strong attitude as a team collaborator while being able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Respond to emergency service calls, weekdays and weekends, when required by operations.

Requirements

  • A high degree of mechanical skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and public safety program standards.
  • Knowledge of standardized industry procedures, practices, and concepts.
  • Be familiar with the operation of Biogas/Natural Gas boilers, air conditioning/ventilation systems, compressors.
  • Experience with cylinder machines, blowers, conveyors, and safe assembly practices, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, working with metal parts: cutting, grinding, and welding.
  • Creative problem-solving.
  • Possess good learning skills.
  • Able to work within time constraints.
  • Responsible, autonomous, reliable, and able to adapt to various working conditions.
  • The candidate will need to have good troubleshooting skills through close attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is essential.

Education or Work Experience

  • DEC in mechanical techniques (minimum 3 years of experience) or a recognized apprenticeship program of vocational studies (DVS) whose main concentration is industrial mechanics combined with 10 years of experience.
  • Possess a Class 3 Stationary Engine Mechanic qualification.
