The Sample Preparation Technician is a key role in the Geochemistry laboratory sections of SGS, responsible for performing routine tasks related to the preparation of geological materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Unpack, sort, transfer, and dry samples as per client work order instructions and laboratory quality guidelines and procedures.
  2. Execute and perform crushing, pulverizing, and screening of geological materials in accordance with SGS' Standard Operating Procedures.
  3. Conduct routine quality checks, including particle size analysis, dust loss, and report data to the Supervisor or group leader if results are outside of acceptability parameters.
  4. Maintain clean and organized workbench areas, ensuring spills are immediately cleaned, and disposal is according to laboratory procedures.
  5. Ensure equipment is in good order, reporting any damaged or defective equipment to the Supervisor or group leader.
  6. Keep all records and notebooks in good order, including work order and equipment maintenance logs.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 0-1 years of relevant work experience or equivalent experience through education.
  • Strong analytical and mechanical skills.
  • Able to perform routine bench tests.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment:

This is a drive-in, drive-out, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotational position. A valid driver's license and vehicle are required for travel to and from the work location. Accommodations are provided.
