About this role

We are seeking a Power Engineering Technology student to join our Cold Lake Operations team as a Plant Operations Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the safe and reliable operation of our process, water reuse and steam plant facilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting operating staff in daily tasks, including operator rounds, sampling, equipment preparation and site emergency simulations. They will also participate in safety programs and training sessions to ensure a safe working environment.

This is a 4-month student work term with a start date of May 1, 2025. The work schedule is a rotating shift of days and nights, requiring the ability to work at heights and drive company vehicles.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist operating staff in daily tasks, including operator rounds, sampling, equipment preparation and site emergency simulations
  • Participate in safety programs and training sessions to ensure a safe working environment
  • Monitor equipment operation and process variables to identify and correct sub-optimal performance
  • Assist in the day-to-day operation of process, water reuse and steam plant units
Requirements
  • Prefer first year student enrolled in Power Engineering Technology diploma
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and safe driving record required
  • Basic computer literacy and sound reasoning ability
  • Ability to work at heights and in a rotating shift environment
