Underground Mine Operator

Vanscoy, Canada Thoar Mining Management Ltd Full time

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Underground Mine Operator / Equipment Operator to join our team at THOAR Mining Management Ltd. for a month-long contract at Vanscoy, SK.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience in an underground Potash setting in an equipment role or three years in a heavy industrial equipment operation or labour role.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out the duties of a Mine Operator safely, efficiently, and as a collaborative team player;
  • Participating in safety meetings and inspections, and following standard operating procedures;
  • Operating scoops, alpine miners, flexiveyors, and other cutting equipment;
  • Operating bolting and scaling machines;
  • Installing belt lines;
  • Rehab work as required;
  • Communicating with Maintenance and Operations departments.

Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of one year in an underground Potash setting in an equipment role, or three years in a heavy industrial equipment operation or labour role;
  • Training and experience running continuous miners, alpine miners, scoops, bolters, scalers, and other underground mining equipment is preferred;
  • A strong safety record and commitment to safety, teamwork, and collaboration;
  • A great attitude and work ethic;
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace;
  • A Grade 12 diploma or GED;
  • A valid General Mine Safety Awareness – GMSA;
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other team members, site staff, and contractors;
  • The ability to manage work in scheduling software.
