Job Summary

Modern Niagara is seeking a highly skilled VDC Project Lead to join our team in Ottawa, ON. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for preparing construction coordination, interference plans, and other drawings for all new construction and upgrade/rebuild projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a process to produce cost-effective, optimized coordinated models and distribute them to the project team ahead of schedule.
  • Coordinate with Foreman/Superintendents, Project Managers, Construction Managers, General Contractors, Consultants, and other trades.
  • Ensure designs conform to applicable standards.
  • Produce detailed fabrication drawings for piping and/or sheet metal.
  • Work closely with the foreman and project coordinators to produce coordination drawings and BIM models.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Drafting, or relevant technical diploma, journeyman status, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of extensive, practical, and successful experience in the mechanical trades and construction industries.
  • Proficiency in Navisworks, Revit with Fabrication Parts, and other BIM/3D systems.
  • Able to prove ability in resolving/managing multidiscipline coordination.
  • Experience in field installation/trade/code adherence will be highly valued.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings and documents.
