SaskPower is seeking skilled individuals to fill Powerline Technician Apprentice positions. As a Powerline Technician Apprentice, you will learn to construct, repair, and maintain power pole lines and underground cable systems. You will also develop basic climbing skills, safety procedures, and operation of powered mobile equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to work in all types of weather, at various heights, and handle large, bulky, and often heavy materials or equipment. To be eligible, you must meet the Saskatchewan equivalent entrance requirements for apprenticeship training, which includes a Saskatchewan equivalent grade 12, a Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment level 6, and/or passing an assessment monitored by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission. The selected individuals will begin a 4-year apprenticeship program, reporting to one of our construction crews. Those who are not selected for the apprenticeship program may be considered for future labourer opportunities at SaskPower. This position falls within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067.
