Job Title: Manager, Accounting
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Accounting to join our Finance department at MLSE. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the accounting team and overseeing the financial reporting and analysis of monthly and quarterly results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including financial reporting and analysis, and ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare analysis and commentary for the monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting packages presented to senior management.
- Manage general accounting duties, including review and approval of monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Assist with the annual audit of the MLSE consolidated financial statements and League Reporting reports and audits for all teams.
- Review and approve the preparation of variance analysis comparing actual results to plan and forecast for inclusion within ownership presentations.
- Work with the different lines of business and teams to review significant account variances and acquire explanations.
- Manage and be an active contributor to multiple sub-ledger reconciliations to ensure accurate revenue reporting and billings.
- Provide support in the coordination of external auditor requests.
- Review refund/payment requests to ensure accuracy in the process.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience and preferably experience managing individuals.
- Postgraduate degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, or Commerce.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or nearing completion of the designation.
- Results and detail-oriented individual with a focus on standard methodologies and continuous improvements.
- Strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Ability to build and lead effectively with a focus on coaching and growing the skills of the individuals on your team.
- Initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to independently lead and prioritize work activities and inputs.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge in IFRS, including IFRS 15.
- Ability to analyze and interpret various data and develop logical solutions.
- Dynamic and fast-paced environment with strong time management skills to ensure deadlines are met for multiple deliverables.
- Working knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP.
- Outstanding understanding of MS Office and above-average proficiency with Excel, VBA, and macros.
