Sheridan College is seeking a highly qualified individual to join our faculty team as a Professor, Skilled Trades for Electrical Programs (Part-time). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of practical skills and theoretical courses to students enrolled in the Electrical Skilled Trades and related programs.

The programs offered in this role include:

  • Electrical Techniques (1-Year Certificate)
  • Electrical Engineering Technician (2-Year Diploma)
  • 309A Electrician, Construction and Maintenance Apprenticeship
  • Dual Credit Electrical (Secondary School Students)

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering course curriculum in classroom and/or online, ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniques;
  • Ensuring that course curricula are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices, changes in the Canadian Electrical Code, and updates to occupational health and safety regulations;
  • Tutoring and academic counselling of students, evaluating student progress/achievement, and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of students' work within assigned courses;
  • Defining, evaluating, and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
  • Developing multimedia materials and alternative delivery strategies in support of the hybrid platform of Sheridan's electrical skilled trades programs, incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the learning process for an immersive online learning experience for students;
  • Attending periodic faculty meetings.

  • Experience with learning management systems, especially the D2L platform, is an asset;
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry is preferred;
  • A network of contacts with other professionals and companies in the electrical industry.
