Sheridan College is seeking an exceptional individual to join our faculty team as a Professor, Skilled Trades for Electrical Programs (Part-time). The successful candidate will teach a range of practical skills and theoretical courses to students enrolled in the Electrical Skilled Trades and related programs.
About the Role- Deliver course curriculum in classroom and/or online, ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniques.
- Ensure that course curricula are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices, changes in the Canadian Electrical Code, and updates to occupational health and safety regulations.
- Tutor and academic counsel students, evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of students' work within assigned courses.
- Define, evaluate, and validate learning outcomes and design appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning.
- Develop multimedia materials and alternative delivery strategies in support of the hybrid platform of Sheridan's electrical skilled trades programs, incorporating educational technologies into the learning process for an immersive online learning experience.
- Attend periodic faculty meetings.

Qualifications- Licensed Electrician (Trade Code 309A or 442A) OR Interprovincial Red Seal Construction/Industrial Electrician.
- 5 years of experience as an electrician in the field.
- Availability to teach daytime, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Experience programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLC) is an asset.
- Experience with electronics, instrumentation, and motor control preferred.
- Applicants must demonstrate mastery of current materials, tools/equipment, and industry practices.
- Must have in-depth knowledge in, experience with interpreting and applying the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Formal studies in adult or higher education an asset.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems, especially the D2L platform, is an asset.
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry preferred.
- Network of contacts with other professionals and companies in the electrical industry.
